I think this is a remnant of the plans to place MGR between MGS2 and MGS4. Jack's change would make a lot more sense. This would explain raiden's behavior in MGS4 and wouldn't ruin the ending where Jack started living a normal live. Anyway, great game.

They should add a new facepaint like Gray, Red. Gray to blend in Stone/Steel(Urban), Red to blend in Rusty Metals/Bricks. also add a Camouflage that can blend you in Wood areas

I didn't view it as snake not using it on the earlier incidents. I viewed it as him not bothering with the more flashy, full scale aspects of it, because there was no need. Then you get to MGS4, and he's OFFENDED by the people doing it wrong, so dusts off the real deal to make a point. Snake's also getting old by this point, and has to pull out the bigger guns to make up for his degrading body.
